I was born with a cleft lip with partial palate involvement.
The photo on the bottom in the middle best depicts it. 
Not having a photo of yourself before the age of 6 months (after the first reparative surgery)  is really jarring if you think about it. It says a lot about the pressures and maybe shame that my parents felt for producing a child that was less than perfect. 
I’m a late bloomer as far as accepting myself as being “beautiful” and I dislike mirrors very much. 
But, life goes on right?
